BOB LEWIS, AP Political Writer RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — All Will Brockman wants is to play soccer for a few more years. “I don’t have a David Beckham or a Tim Tebow on my hands, but he’s not bad,” Sharon Brockman boasts of the 13-year-old son she homeschools in Montgomery County near Christiansburg. Will plays on a private club team now, but that will end once his contemporaries matriculate into high schools and compete on their varsity teams over the next year or two. And under current Virginia law, Will will watch from the bleachers unless he enrolls in the public schools...
“Tim Tebow may not be the best NFL quarterback, but God sure has given him a big platform!” My 13-year-old son said this to me this morning, after we talked about Tebow’s exciting game-winning touchdown run last night against the Jets to yet again pull off a last-minute miracle as an NFL starter. Moments later, I opened my email to find a note from Crosswalk.com saying the Tim Tebow Foundation has partnered with CURE to build a children’s hospital in the Philippines. I love that so many football fans through Tebow’s fame and media attention are hearing about Jesus, the...
I’m loving all the Tim Tebow buzz. This Christian, homeschooled star athlete has singlehandedly caused me to enjoy football for the first time in my life. =O) (If you haven’t read it yet, check out the biography of Tim Tebow over at Knowledge House/Famous Homeschoolers. Love it!) Here was an article I liked over at ESPN: Keown: Enter Tim Tebow espn.go.com The decision to make Tim Tebow the Broncos’ starter was met by cries of Finally! by his ardent supporters. But the question remains: Was this just about football, or was it something bigger? ESPN The Magazine’s Tim Keown...
Two families asked Oklahoma lawmakers Tuesday to allow homeschool students to participate in sports through their local school districts. Oklahoman 2 Published: October 5, 2011 CAPITOL BRIEF Homeschool sports are examined Two families asked lawmakers Tuesday to allow homeschool students to participate in sports. They said taxes paid by homeschool families already support the programs. “If homeschool families sent students to the local school, the students would be allowed to participate in sports programs, so there is no extra cost to granting homeschool students access,” said Rep. Gus Blackwell, R-Laverne, who requested a legislative study on the issue....
I thought Focus on the Family’s Superbowl ads with homeschoolers Tim and Pam Tebow were a class-act. Very well done. The first one caught us off guard and made us laugh each time we replayed the ad online. (Except for my toddler, who keeps getting increasingly disturbed by it, LOL.) I loved this refreshingly positive article by a female, pro-choice, sports columnist’s article in the Washington Post: Tebow’s Super Bowl ad isn’t intolerant; its critics are Tim Tebow fan resources: http://www.tebowzone.com/ http://www.timtebowfoundation.org/ Tim has started his own foundation to help bring faith, hope and love to those in need....
