Duggar
On tonight’s episode of 19 Kids and Counting, “Duggars Planning the Future,”….. Landscaping Jim Bob calls a meeting to explain the next family project: planting a few dozen fruit trees in the yard. “When my dad pages over the intercom…with so many kids, it can take us…twenty to thirty minutes to gather,” says Jana. After a trip to the nursery, the Duggars are ready to begin work, but not until the guys fire up their “man toys.” “[My dad] couldn’t do it without using every piece of equipment that he has,” informs Jill, laughing. The Duggars own one backhoe, one...
To instill self-control in her children–especially her energetic little boys–Michelle uses a process that she calls Quiet and Still (similar to Blanket Training, but without the toy). From the time they are young, the mother of many teaches her kids to sit quietly and slowly increases the length of time.”It’s not waiting until they do something wrong to correct them, but actually taking moments to train them,” explains Michelle in our July 2011 interview. She recommends starting with increments of five minutes. Here’s how it works: “I’ll sit him in a chair, and I’ll say, ‘Okay, Mommy’s going to sit beside...
Just because you are one of twenty-one doesn’t mean that you aren’t unique. Each of the Duggar children has a name with a distinct meaning (who knew there were so many “J” names out there?). Take a look at the list below, and get an idea of what Jim Bob and Michelle were thinking when they welcomed each of their blessings into the world. *Why so many “J” names? Click here to find out! Joshua: God is salvation Jana: God is gracious John-David: God’s Grace Jill: Youthful Jessa: God beholds Jinger: Pep; liveliness Joseph: The Lord’s addition (to the family)...
Yesterday, we wrote about the Duggars’ traditions leading up to Christmas. Today, let’s take a look at how they spend Christmas Day. Jim Bob and Michelle host an average of 30-45 immediate and extended family members for Christmas dinner, which is served buffet-style at their 7,000 square-foot home in Northwest Arkansas. Can you guess what the Duggars’ favorite holiday dish is? It’s not the mashed potatoes, turkey, stuffing, or even the assortment of homemade pies. It’s the rolls; the Duggars’ melt-in-your-mouth, Homemade Yeast Rolls. (Click here for recipe.) After dinner, the family gathers around the Christmas tree (decorated this year...
(A wonderful post by good friends of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Kelly Bates. The poem is so beautiful!) As the Duggar family attends the memorial service of their precious baby Jubilee Shalom, that was born prematurely during Michelle’s second trimester, our prayers are that many will be encouraged by their faith in the Lord through this storm in their life. It was Michelle that was able to offer our family much comfort after our first miscarriage and we now lift their family in prayer, knowing that God will use this occasion for His glory and that He will...

What is Michelle doing to take care of herself, now that she is pregnant with her 20th child? She and Jim Bob understand that having 19 children is not for everyone. “But we are open to receive whatever gifts God wants us to have,” she tells People in a recent article. “And we are so excited and thrilled about this pregnancy.” Michelle is past the morning sickness stage and is feeling good. She has sought advice from experts and is consuming plenty of protein and greens. The mom of 19 is also working out on the elliptical for one-hour intervals,...
We watch them on TV every week, but what is it really like to grow up Duggar? Is there enough love and attention to go around? Do the older children enjoy taking care of their younger siblings, or does it just appear that way on camera? Hear what the kids have to say about individuality, socialization, living in the public eye, and new babies. Enjoy this interview with Rebecca Dube from NBC Today Moms: Read full article...

Time for our weekly recap! On tonight’s new episodes of “19 Kids and Counting:” Duggar In Danger During a rehearsal at First Baptist Church Atlanta (Charles Stanley‘s church), Jason falls 12 feet into an orchestra pit. “We found Jason laying there, basically in a pool of blood,” Jim Bob recounts. Jason is rushed to the hospital–Mama by his side–where it is determined that the 11-year-old Duggar has suffered two chipped teeth, a fractured jaw, and a sprained knee. He is stitched up and sent home (to the family bus) but takes weeks to fully recover. The following day, Jim Bob...

Go see Courageous!!!!!! Hubby, 13 yo son and I saw it tonight on opening night. Urgently important, fantastic movie all families need to see. The Kendrick brothers hit another one out of the park. This movie was beyond excellent. Very impressive acting, cinematography, story line, scenery, MESSAGE, music… It was exciting and tense, and hilarious, and a super five-star tear jerker. (Seriously – you WILL NEED tissues!) We really loved the humor in this movie, too. And the action scenes were awesome and realistic. Very gripping and tense, and not over the top or sensational. Courageous is definitely a movie...
