Eavesdrop on a Chat with Sen. Rick Santorum
In February, Senator Rick Santorum, one of the four remaining candidates for the Republican nomination for president, graciously agreed to take some time from his busy campaign schedule and give an interview to Home Educating Family Magazine. Rob Shearer spoke with Senator Santorum. Here’s what the Senator had to say: HEF:  We’re all pretty excited about the fact that we may have the first homeschooling president in the White House. Sen. Santorum: Well, not the first… because everybody used to homeschool! HEF: We were actually having a little conversation about that the other day. I suggested that you could probably...

We know you’re busy with life outside of schooling, and you need encouragement for all of life! LPH – Building Bridges...

Hey, we were on TV
First in the audience of youth theater…  Then front and center on PBS News Hour’s election coverage!   My five children and I joined other homeschool families in a school-day preview showing of Christian Youth Theater’s Robin Hood musical last week.  Fox Phoenix’s Cory McCloskey came in and broadcast a promo live while we were there.  It was fun for the kids to pick themselves out in the crowd.  (We are tiny, at the top right side of the audience.)  Our field trip was organized by Jan Parsons. Last year Nicolas got to join in CYT’s musical version of Charlotte’s...
LESSONS OF LIFE
As our children grow up, we often face challenges – little lessons of life that have to be learned in order to experience true contentment. One child might be concerned that another is faster, smarter, skinnier, prettier, more popular, more talented, more successful, etc.… We try to explain that God makes everyone different and has a special purpose in mind for each person. Which means each child will look different, have a different vocation, a different ministry, a different income, a different family size, a different amount of popularity or success, different hardships, etc. Our job is to just accept...

National Merit Finalist: Homeschooling Brings Family Closer Together
The Topperts’ decision to home-school Sarah and her three brothers and sisters was rooted in a desire to grow as a family in knowledge and faith. “We had a deep desire to spend time together as a family and to teach Sarah, and all our children, from a Christian worldview,” March Toppert said. “We also knew that we could tailor her education to her ability level in a way that a school setting does not allow… Read full article   (Thanks HSLDA for the heads up on this story)  ...
