Don’t miss the opportunity to introduce your students to a live performance and exciting cultural learning experience with the season opener of the 2011-2012 ASU Gammage’s Scottsdale Insurance/Nationwide Foundation Performances for Students Series at ASU Gammage - AnDa Union.
AnDa Union is part of a musical movement that is finding inspiration in old and forgotten songs, drawing on a repertoire of enchanting music that had all but disappeared during China’s recent tumultuous past. Holding on to the essence of traditional Mongolian music while creating a form of new music, they perform with indigenous instruments – the morin huur (horse head fiddle), the maodun chaoer (a three-holed flute), and the main singing style is hoomai, throat singing. Don’t miss these captivating young musicians as they combine different traditions and styles of music from Inner and Outer Mongolia.
The performance is Thursday, October 6th, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Each ticket, for students, teachers or chaperones, is only $3. Teachers will also receive a complimentary study guide that draws clear connections to Arizona Department of Education Arts standards.
