Nearly eight months ago Swedish authorities approached the Johanssons as the family was on a plane ready to relocate to India. Police officers took Dominic into custody, per the instruction of Swedish social workers. (story...
Olympics! Is It Sport… Or Science?
The kids are really learning a lot from the Olympics physics class (elementary age and up) that Science Jim is offering online. We love the live, interactive classes, and Science Jim is quite entertaining. Last week he taught us about speed and friction, and

Wilderness Survival for Kids
I like Lisa's approach to preparedness. She's helping moms start small and do what they can. No underground shelters and alarmist hype for her. However, with all the interest in doomsday scenarios surrounding 2012, the media outlets are taking notice as Lisa's blog is gaining a following fast.

Touchdown for Tebows and Focus on the Family!
I thought Focus on the Family’s Superbowl ads with homeschoolers Tim and Pam Tebow were a class-act.  Very well done.  The first one caught us off guard and made us laugh each time we replayed the ad online. (Except for my toddler, who keeps getting increasingly disturbed by it, LOL.)  I loved this refreshingly positive article by a female, pro-choice, sports columnist’s article in the Washington Post:  Tebow’s Super Bowl ad isn’t intolerant; its critics are Tim Tebow fan resources: http://www.tebowzone.com/ http://www.timtebowfoundation.org/ Tim has started his own foundation to help bring faith, hope and love to those in need.

Duggar Sons Save Girl’s Life
Josh and John Duggar, the two oldest homeschooled sons of television’s Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, helped save a little girl’s life after three cars crashed near the Duggars’ used car lot in Arkansas.  Josh calls it divine intervention. Here are some of my favorite Duggar Family resources: www.DuggarFamily.com Eldest son Josh and his wife and new baby have a web site, www.JA20.com The Duggars: 20 and Counting book

Duggar Family Featured on People Cover
I don’t regularly read the supermarket magazines, but I was pleased this weekend when my visiting sister brought me the latest People magazine.  Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, homeschooling parents of now 19 children, were featured on the cover.  They show such grace throughout the article, as they discuss new preemie Josie’s birth at 25 weeks gestation, and their focus for the next 12 months.  Other People articles online gave more info about Josie’s amazing recovery so far, and how the family keeps up with her news.  <Note of caution:  These links do take you to People Magazine, with all...
Voddie Baucham’s Studio Outtakes for New Movie
I love Dr. Voddie Baucham, Jr.! Baucham narrates the new film George Washington Carver: An Uncommon Way, just released by Franklin Springs Media. I found this great studio-outtakes clip at the movie’s info page. This homeschooling dad has the most amazing voice, and takes such a strong, positive stance on so many things our family values.  We first heard him speak at last summer’s homeschool convention in Phoenix. Be inspired! (A side note; I just read on Franklin Springs Media’s blog this morning of the sudden death of collaborator Tom Howard, who wrote the music for this George Washington Carver movie...
